MATERIALS, DURABILITY & LIFECYCLE
Built for Longevity, Not Short‑Term Use
Our approach to sustainability focuses on durability, material efficiency and whole‑life performance rather than short‑term fixes or surface‑level claims.
By designing bespoke GRP / PET resin planter inserts that are waterproof by construction and built to last, we aim to reduce failure, replacement and waste over the life of a project.
RESPONSIBLE MATERIAL USE
Manufactured using GRP incorporating PET resin.
PET resin is derived from recycled plastic sources, supporting the reuse of existing material streams.
Material selection balances recycled content with the performance and durability required for architectural applications.
LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION
GRP/PET resin inserts are approximately 7kg/m2.
This offers several environmental benefits:
- Reduced structural loading
- Lower material demand in supporting structures
- Improved transport efficiency
- Easier handling and installation
DURABILITY & PERFORMANCE
Our planter inserts are designed to be:
- Fully waterproof
- Root resistant
- Resistant to common planting media and moisture exposure
Long service life reduces the need for frequent replacement, contributing to lower material use and waste generation over the building lifecycle.
TRANSPORT & INSTALLATION
The lightweight nature of GRP / PET resin inserts allows:
- More efficient transport
- Reduced lifting requirements on site
- Lower on‑site energy use during installation
These factors help reduce project impacts beyond the product itself.
END-OF-LIFE THINKING
We repurpose our planter inserts removed at refurbishment or end of life.
This supports:
- Waste reduction
- Reuse or repurposing of viable components
- More circular use of materials
Where return is not feasible, disposal is carried out in accordance with local regulations. Recycling routes are explored where facilities exist.
SUSTAINABLE FRAMEWORKS
While our products do not themselves provide certification credits...
the performance characteristics and environmental information we provide may support project sustainability objectives.
A third-party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is now available for this product, providing lifecycle assessment data to support design teams undertaking detailed environmental evaluation.
This information may assist projects working towards sustainability frameworks such as:
- BREEAM
- WELL
- Client-specific ESG requirements
ZERO PACKAGING - ZERO EMISSIONS
ZERO PACKAGING
DELIVERY
Where possible, planter inserts are delivered without packaging.
The durable GRP construction allows products to be transported safely without the need for protective wrapping or single-use packaging materials.
This approach helps minimise unnecessary material use and reduces waste associated with packaging and disposal. Packaging is only introduced where specifically required by a courier or transport provider.
REDUCING EMISSIONS
WHERE POSSIBLE
Where possible, local deliveries are carried out using electric vehicles.
Helping to reduce emissions associated with transporting products to site.
Electric van deliveries are used for projects within our delivery range . For projects outside this range, deliveries are planned to optimise transport efficiency and minimise unnecessary journeys.
